Lunchtime #drawing: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory building at 23-29 Washington Pl., where in 1911 a fire killed 146 workers (123 were women) – the owners kept the doors locked to the factory, which was on the 8th, 9th and 10th floors. This disaster spurred legislation for workers’ rights.

There are two historic markers at street level, one from the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union and the other from the National Park Service.
