Lunchtime drawing: The West Fourth Street Courts in Greenwich Village, vacant this chilly but sunny afternoon. I wonder how many of the players in the college basketball tournament have played here.

In the lower left of the sketch there’s a partially started lamppost on Minetta Lane, that my daughter in the wrap just didn’t want me standing still for. There was enough to look at in the courts I guess.

More on the West 4th Street Courts: “These courts serve as a basketball mecca not only in Manhattan, but far beyond the City lines as well. Home to “the Cage,” a smaller-than-regulation court that hosts intense pick-up basketball games, the asphalt is also the site of a popular tournament that draws players from around the world.” – http://ift.tt/1bigqh6
